10 Future Technologies That May Change The World
We'll watch THIS VIDEO in class (and you'll be able to refer back to it at home). After you watch it, think about the ten technologies presented, and pick the one you think will "take off" the fastest.
As you explain why, talk about:
What industry will drive it's development and/or be responsible for its success?
Why do you believe will it be successful?
What might hold back the development or acceptance of the technology, and why?
When you respond to classmates, challenge or support their predictions, and offer your opinions and additional information.

I think the 3D printing will probably take off the fastest, seeing as we are already using the printers so much, and in so many different fields. For example in the medical field they are using them to print of prosthetic limbs and apparently organs like skin.

DeleteI believe that flying cars might take off pretty fast, only because 3D printing has already skyrocketed. The industry that I feel might take it pretty far would be Google, but if I had to think of something that would hold it back would probably safety hazards. So therefore if they worked on it for a couple of years it would probably be a really big thing.
ReplyDeleteSafety issues would be a problem and so would regulations and teaching people how to actually drive. Once all of that is figured out I think it would be very useful and used widely.
DeleteI completely agree, flying cars are way too complicated to teach and learn. People would drink/text and fly. Flying car crashes would be a disaster.
DeleteIn my opinion, invisibility will be the next successful technology. The military is probably exploring this idea, and I could see why. If the military was able to make this successful, it could save countless lives during war, and a lot of money. I think the military would pursue this idea very expeditiously if they had the funding and technology. The invisibility would have to be used in the proper way, or else negative things could happen, for example if it got out to normal people.
ReplyDeleteI agree but, if the wrong people get their hands on that kind of technology, terrible things could happen, people can walk around committing any crime they want; murder, robbery and rape.

Or it might be the 3D printer because if people are already making houses it wont be long till people have 3d neighborhood

DeleteI disagree the Flying car wouldn't take off because first off you would need to train people to fly the cars, and even if you do it would still be very dangerous.

DeleteI feel that the Train will take off the fastest of the 10 because it has huge corporations behind it (Elon Musk, The Owner of SpaceX) and seems to be the one that isn't too far fetched and futuristic compared to the others. The general public also seems to be with the idea of it, so that would also help compared to the other ideas where people don't want them. Though it may get held back from the promises that "it will never crash" and "it's weather proof" because people will feel as if they are trying too hard for them to cash in on them, and thus making the audience to not trust/believe them.

DeleteI agree with you. But what if those promises aren't met? It's a huge hit and miss with this, but if it works it would revolutionize transportation.

Delete3D printing and the robot human. It's cool to think that we're able to make something like that. I think it'll be successful because over time we will keep advancing in them and making them better.

DeleteI believe that 3D printing is going to be successful. Teachers, scientists and doctors are using them right now and they seem to be doing very well. Doctors are designing and creating prosthetic limbs and other body parts that are saving peoples lives. Soon people will be printing houses to cars. I think that the only down side to 3D printing is that anyone could make anything, such as weapons.

DeleteI feel that robotics will take off the fastest as there can be many uses for them in many different fields. For one they could be used to aid the military in battle, decreasing the amount of casualties to our troops. Second they could be used to aid people in everyday needs, or generally aid the elderly. Third using the technological minds of these robots, they could be used for complicated problems and help in the aiding of advances in technology that a normal human couldn't do. There are so many things they could help with I could be here for days on end, so I'll leave it at that.

DeleteAdvanced Robots and AI is soon to be coming, but will the fear of other things being smarter than us, hold us from creating more robots that are smarter and or more advanced than us. People already have almost self thinking robots and are on the brink of creating them.

ReplyDeleteI feel like virtual reality will take off fast because it will bring new ways to watch things on your phone or how you will be able to interact with video games ext. If you add VR to a video game maybe you can be more active in the game instead of just sitting there and playing.

Delete3D printing, I believe will take off the fastest because there are already people out there using them. For example, Mr. Rye and some of his classes are working with the printers creating little objects. People out in the medical field are also starting to use 3D printing to create organs and many other body parts. Some people are also using them to make prosthetics for people that have lost limbs in war, freak accidents, or just born without them. Sooner or later everyone in the world could have them in their homes.
ReplyDelete3D printing would have definitely been my second choice. I think the medical industry will explore and develop the concept of 3D printing. One day, I believe it will be able to print stents, skin, and maybe even organs.

I believe it will be successful because we already know how to print smaller objects and people in the medical field are already starting to develop this technology. They’ve already made flesh with a 3D printer, but trying to make internal organs so that the body won’t reject them may be difficult.

DeleteI think virtual reality will be successful because it can be used to train people for their jobs on different equipment. It would be done through a simulator so it wouldn't be the exact same as working on that machine but, it would be close. It would save time on training because it would be hands on right away. With virtual reality it could persuade people to try a new occupation out.

DeleteI believe that the magnetic bullet will be the most successful because it is a very Large change in form of traveling and can bring people over long distance in short. What might hold back the development is that It says it can't crash but that doesn't mean it can't "derail", it may also be uncomfortable to ride at such high speeds. This Invention will be the next form of public transportation.

DeleteI believe that the Magnetic Train will be a success. Because it'll be a new form of transportation that can and will be very useful. I feel that there isn't much that could hold back the development of the train and technology, because it'll be safe. There won't be other interference, like cars and other people on the railway. This train could be the next form of public transportation.

ReplyDeleteI think the idea of the magnetic train will really take off fast, they already have a train built in a city, just not meeting all the standards with this idea of this train, with this new invention I think more people will use this instead of flying on a airplane, just because it will probably be more cost efficient when they said they use solar power to power this train. It will also probably be cheaper then flying on an airplane because of the tickets. Airplane tickets get pretty pricey and if they make this new invention I think the tickets for the train would be cheaper and it would make it more popular.

ReplyDeleteI feel the virtual reality will become the most successful because we already have Oculus VR System and Google cardboard. It can also change the way you watch things or play games. I have a Oculus Vr System, we got it with a galaxy s7 edge and I personal thing its fun to use. Its like you are in a different world, everything is bigger and every where you go on it, it’s a different room. We can use the virtual reality to learn new things.

Everyone has their favorite game that they may be addicted to, so they might want to use Virtual Reality to enhance their gameplay, it could also help in different fields, just think you can program a training simulator for just about any field without having the mess or the worry about failing.

Some say that virtual reality might actually even take off some time this year with all the new games that are coming out.
